If you're hearing this garbage-y, nasty, crunchy, digital sound only when your USB is plugged then it's a USB ground issue - the mixer is getting stray signal from bad grounding your machine. Thanks everyone for your ideas, and some of you have given me ideas for troubleshooting other unrelated problems, so it wasn't wasted energy. Anyway, the hum is no longer audible unless I turn the fader up all the way, and I believe it's just a typical noise floor at this point that won't show up on tracks. This is weird, because I never buy stereo 1/4" cables, and it looked just like my other patch cables, so I think it must have been a mistake from when I bought the cable. When the track comes back, it doesn't have that same sound, but it is so low that I can't possibly keep it this way long-term.Īny ideas, especially from anyone who has run into something similar, would be appreciated.ĮDIT: After doing a lot of troubleshooting, I found that I somehow had a stereo cable plugged into the DI instead of a mono cable. I have tried a few fixes, and one thing that sort of technically works is to push the "pad" button on the DI box, then push the gain all the way up on the input, and record it that way, but in that case I am getting almost no signal onto the track. It's very strange, since surely what the DAW is recording is what I'm hearing when I'm setting the level and recording the track, so my feeling is that somehow the signal coming back through the USB setup is getting corrupted somehow.Īnother odd thing. ![]() When my DAW sends it back to the board, though, there is a definite sound of electrical interference or something along those lines. When I get the track ready and set the gain, everything sounds fine. I am just starting to try tracking on this setup, and I am recording a bass track through a new Radial direct box. So anyway, here is my latest issue, and I'm hoping someone has an idea for me. I used analog up until now, sending signal to my DAW through an ADAT with an optical cable, so I have run into several hurdles, mainly just in getting my brain around the differences in digital and analog mixing boards. ![]() I have recently purchased a Behringer X32 to use in my studio with Cakewalk Sonar Platinum software. This is my first post here, and I appreciate your help in advance.
